“NERC Open Research Archive (NORA) is a central repository for published material such as academic papers or reports that have resulted from research funded by the Natural Environment Research Council. It contains the research outputs of the British Antarctic Survey, British Geological Survey, Centre for Ecology & Hydrology and Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory from October 2006. Subject specialities are atmospheric science, earth science, earth observation, environmental maths and statistics, marine, polar, science based archaeology, technology and e-science, terrestrial and freshwater science.”

Digital Library for Earth System Education (DLESE)

“DLESE is the Digital Library for Earth System Education, a geoscience community resource that supports teaching and learning about the Earth system. It is funded by the National Science Foundation and is being built by a community of educators, students, and scientists to support Earth system education at all levels and in both formal and informal settings. Easy access to quality teaching and learning resources about the Earth as a system for a wide range of learners.
Services to help users effectively create, use and evaluate digital learning resources.
Interfaces and tools to allow student exploration of Earth data.

PANGAEA – Publishing Network for Geoscientific & Environmental Data

“PANGAEA – Publishing Network for Geoscientific & Environmental Data is an Open Access library aimed at archiving, publishing and distributing georeferenced data from earth system research. Data can be found by using the PANGAEA search engine. or through links on web pages. Most of the data are freely available and can be used by referencing the related publication or the dataset citation. Some data sets from ongoing projects are under moratorium and access may be restricted. The data description (metadata) of all data sets are visible and include the principle investigators (PI) name and email for contact.”

PANGAEA is open to any project or individual scientist to archive and publish data!

CIB Meeting on climate change and the build environment

The 6th Meeting of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) focuses on climate change and the build environment. The aim of the meeting was to discuss and disseminate the latest findings and research, particularly “the assessment report from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) and recent research results on the analysis and use of weather data in building design.” Topics covered included climate models, scenarios and data, and climate change impacts studies and impact assessment methods and adaptation strategies.

The journal’s coverage reflects the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of environmental science. The main subject areas are:

reconstructions of past climate based on instrumental and historical data as well as proxy data from marine and terrestrial (including ice) archives;
development and validation of new proxies, improvements of the precision and accuracy of proxy data;
theoretical and empirical studies of processes in and feedback mechanisms between all climate system components in relation to past climate change on all space and time scales;
